From Street Performer to TEDx Speaker: The Power of Meditation in Motion
l will be taking the stage at TEDx Omaha 2024! This year, I’ll be sharing my talk about the power of Meditation in Motion—how learning to focus through movement and practice can help us find balance in a chaotic world. It’s a concept that has shaped not only my life but also my career as a performer, speaker, and entertainer.
Looking back, this journey has truly come full circle. I started as a college kid performing magic, juggling, and yo-yo tricks in the Old Market of Omaha. Those street performances taught me a lot about resilience, creativity, and connecting with people—skills that carried me through the birthday party circuit, fairs, and festivals. Over time, I moved on to larger stages, performing at corporate events and even making it to Last Comic Standing. And now, here I am, preparing to step onto the TEDx stage to share what I’ve learned over decades of performing and practicing my craft.
My TEDx Omaha talk dives into the idea that focus isn’t something we’re born with—it’s a skill we can build through discipline and embracing failure. Whether it’s balancing a spoon, riding a BMX bike, or learning a magic trick, these activities don’t just entertain—they transform us. They teach us to silence the inner critic, stay present, and find fulfillment in progress over perfection.
So, if you’ve ever struggled to find focus or wondered how to turn chaos into clarity, I promise this talk will resonate with you. It’s packed with stories from my performing days, insights into the neuroscience of skill-building, and a few surprises that will leave you inspired to find your own version of Meditation in Motion.
I can’t wait to see you at TEDx Omaha on November 21, 2024. It’s an honor to bring everything I’ve learned performing all over the Omaha Metro—and beyond—to this incredible platform.
